In this course, you will delve into the science and engineering behind nuclear fission, learning about the process of splitting atoms, how it generates energy, and the control mechanisms to ensure safety.

You will explore the current state of research in this field, including the latest experimental results, and examine the potential benefits and risks associated with nuclear fission.

The course consists of 06 modules and is offered in English. 

Each module would be of 10-12 minutes and classes can be completed anytime over the specified week.

This section would be covered in a week and is divided into two modules:
 

  • Understanding Fission
    Here we will explore the science behind nuclear energy and the different types of fission reactions. Join us to gain insights into the benefits of nuclear fission as a potential energy source.
     

  • How Nuclear Fission Works
    In this module, we'll explore how nuclear fission was used to create devastating atomic bombs during World War II, making it a technology with both peaceful and destructive potential.

This section would be covered in a week and is divided into four modules:
 

  • From The Bomb to Power Plant
    Fission technology has revolutionized our world. Understanding the science behind it can help us harness its potential for energy production while avoiding its destructive capabilities.
     

  • Mission Readiness Test
    Test your understanding with some super fun and awesome trivia questions and answers about the incredible power of nuclear fission, including its history and potential impact on the world.

The Atomic Adventure

This section would be covered in a week and is divided into four modules:
 

  • Finding Alternatives to Uranium
    In this module, you will explore alternative sources of nuclear energy based on fission and learn about the advantages and challenges associated with each. 
     

  • Path Towards Thorium
    Explore the potential of thorium as a safer and more abundant alternative to uranium in nuclear energy. Learn about its properties, benefits, and challenges in this informative module.

Srijan Pal Singh
India's #1 Science Author and Former Advisor to Dr. Kalam

Srijan Pal Singh is an author, education innovator, futurist and social entrepreneur. He studied in La Martiniere College and then completed his Engineering and further went to the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad to study management. He was awarded the Gold Medal for the Best All-rounder Student of the 2009 batch at IIM-A and was also the President of the Student’s Council there.​

 

He served as Officer on Special Duty and Advisor (Technology and Policy) at the Office of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam where he worked as a close aide to the former president on various consulting works. He has interacted with leading institutions of the world for addresses/research and delegate visits including, FermiLab (Chicago), UKCA Yorkshire, CERN (Switzerland), Boulby Underground Dark Matter Laboratory, Harvard University (USA), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), Boston University, Kentucky University, Sydney University, University of Edinburgh, St Gallen's University (Switzerland), Beijing University, HBS, DRDO, BrahMos Missile Project, Toyota Motors (Georgetown), George Washington University, Mahindra, NITI Aayog, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta and many other leading institutions across the world. He has been a host to several Nobel Laureates and Astronauts in his shows.
